 Orthodox Church and practices

Post by Stephen 22 »

Dear Orthodox forum,

I believe that the Orthodox Church is the true church founded by Jesus and the apostles. I believe that Jesus Christ is in the Eucharist. That Baptism is essential to salvation. Faith and Works are important. I have disagreements over the liturgy. I want to able to choose the scripture that I want to preach and not depend on the readings for that week. Of course, incense is acceptable and as well as candles to glorify God. Does the Orthodox Church believe that when Jesus died on the cross, ransom was paid to Satan? I know, I know. They say it was paid to death. But isn’t paid to death and paid to Satan, the same thing? For goodness sake, they should be no controversy about this. God hates controversy. I would still use the readings sometimes. The Holy Spirit told me that Infant Baptism was biblical. However, I would rather want to baptize adults only, even through I believe infant baptism is valid, but if God wanted me to baptize babies,I would do so. The seven sacraments would be valid. I would want my church, even through it would preach from the Church Fathers and the Bible, be in communion with the Orthodox Church. Become a pastor of the church. I plan to be gone for half of the month to preach the gospel and the baptize the adults I meet on the road. Not very many Evangelicals or Orthodox are out there, preaching the gospel. God wants me to be away from the church, God wants me to bring in as many converts into the church as I can. Music would be orthodox and include Mary and the saints and icons. In my absence, an orthodox priest can come into my church and preach and do the Eucharist. I want the priest to be a very loving and kind person. I want my church to be in full communion with the Orthodox Church. I hate Protestant heresy and I want to stay away from it.

What do you think of all this?

Let me know.

Thanks and God bless.

Are you an ex- Protestant or something who converted to Orthodoxy? To me that is what it sounds like, or are you maintaining your label Protestant and want to convert other Protestants to the Orthodox practices?
Either way,I applaud your heartfelt need to evangelize. You seem zealous to uphold the obvious truths of Christianity found in the foundation handed to us through the apostles. For me I am simply Christian and truth is truth. That truth is a universal consensus among all Christians that Christ is the only way and it is Orthodoxy to observe all the teachings of the scriptures and adhere to them. We as believers must PROTEST against anything that is contrary to the Truth revealed to us in Christ Jesus.

2Timothy 3:15-17
All Scripture is God-Breathed
…15From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.…

Unfortunately.....though many Protestants cry "Sola Scriptura" they actually ignore the clear cut teachings of Christ. I think it is due to their hate of the RCC. Which adopted certain beliefs from the Orthodox churches which were before them. In maligning the truth with their apostasy from the written word , the RCC caused a splinter and from that arouse the Protestant movement. It is my experience that when you clearly point out error within Protestant doctrine, (with scripture) they still cling to the error and reject SCRIPTURE ALONE. Peace!
