Can an Orthodox pray to a Catholic saint?
Can an Orthodox Christian ask for intercessory prayer from a saint belonging to the Catholic denomination? Or would doing so be considered a sin?

You can pray to pre-schism saints. That's as far as I know.

What about pre-schism saints that were canonized post-schism?
Re: Can an Orthodox pray to a Catholic saint?
If nothing that person says is contradictory to the original Root and Tree revealed to the gentiles and returning Jew, by way of the holy scriptures, then that person is worthy of honor. I can't get caught up in schism this and that -" You will know them by their fruits, a bad tree cannot bear good fruit and a good tree cannot bear bad fruit"- Jesus the Christ. All the denominational hate breaks the new commandment Christ left to us which is equal in greatness with the first " Love one another as I have loved you"-Jesus the Christ. We learn in the Letter to the Ephesians that wolves will rise up among us. That has happened with both the Roman church and Orthodox. More among the Roman church but both never-the -less.
Since the Roman Catholic Church has soooooo many saints I simply honor those I test as 1 John 4 says we should. If all is kosher as they say, then I partake of their fruit. They have sooooo many saints but not all are saints. I test who I am curious about or is highly acclaimed by the Catholic majority. Those whom I wish to learn more about I take up the cause to learn about their teachings. If what they say does not contradict the scriptures, I will give honor. That is why Holy Scripture was left to us. God will not have His children ignorant; we know them by their fruit by comparing it to the original root and tree-the Holy Scriptures which are a Tree of Life. Each leaf/page is for the healing of the nations. Those well versed in the scriptures in faith in turn produce good fruit bringing forth healing. When a child of God shares love according to the Holy Spirit in accordance with the scriptures, that child too produces much fruit. It's not complicated, learn about the person across the aisle and test according to the written word left to us and we will know if he or she is a saint.

I'm not a 100% sure, we are not in communion in any other churches other than Eastern orthodoxy. I go to a protestant church because i cant find a orthodox church but i'm not allowed to take communion with them.
